June Jazz Film Series at the Phoenix Art Museum
Part 2: “A Great Day in Harlem ”
Sunday, June 15, 1 PM
It's a great day in Phoenix to take Dad (or anyone else!) to the Phoenix Art Museum this Sunday for "A Great Day in Harlem ," featuring co-producer Matthew Seig in a Q and A following the screening. Many thanks to the Clarendon Hotel (http://www.theclarendon.net) for accommodations assistance. If you haven't discovered C4, the hotel's great restaurant, you haven't seen anything. Great getaway and the coolest pool in the downtown.
P.S. - Bring a sweater if you get cold, the museum's Whiteman Hall is very cool!

Matthew Seig, co-producer of “A Great Day in Harlem,” and director of jazz biographies on Thelonious Monk, Billie Holiday, Count Basie and Sarah Vaughn, will attend the screening and do a Q and A following the film.
“A Great Day in Harlem ” is an hour-long documentary film that brings to life a remarkable moment in the history of jazz - a moment in which dozens of America 's jazz legends unexpectedly gathered together for a photograph that would become emblematic of the golden age of jazz. By illuminating this single, historic event, A GREAT DAY IN HARLEM is a window to an unprecedented era in music history which addresses broader issues of creativity and community in our own time.

Part 1 – “Who the #$&% is Jackson Pollock?”
Tuesday, June 17, 7 p.m.
When Teri Horton, a 73-year-old former long-haul truck driver with an eighth grade education bought a painting in a thrift shop for five dollars, she didn't know that it would pit her against the most powerful people in the art community and perhaps forever change the way art is authenticated around the world.
“Who The #$&% is Jackson Pollock?” is a rollicking adventure that documents a 15-year war with the art world's inner circle, lifts the veil on how art is bought and sold in America and introduces audiences to the funny, profane and utterly unforgettable Teri Horton.
Tuesday, June 17, 7 p.m.
Whiteman Hall inside the Phoenix Art Museum
1625 N. Central Avenue , downtown Phoenix
FREE Admission
Teri Horton will be present to introduce the film and respond to questions.
